How to tell if your mobile proxy is shared
If the address changes when you did not ask, or a site treats you like a stranger you have never been, you are probably on a pool. A dedicated modem is one customer on that line.
A mobile proxy is only as private as the people who share its IP. Providers rarely put “shared” in the product name. You can still tell from how the line behaves.
Signs the IP is a pool
The outgoing address changes on a timer, or in the middle of a session, and you did not press anything. On a dedicated modem the address stays until you request a new one.
A site that knew you yesterday asks you to prove you are human today, even though you changed nothing in the account. Pools mix your traffic with everyone else on that SIM. Their history sticks to the address.
The provider sells the same country as a pack of ports, or talks about “sticky sessions” measured in minutes. That is a pool with a hold timer, not a modem reserved for you.
Speed and latency jump around at quiet hours. Other customers on the same radio are using it.
What a dedicated modem changes
One modem, one customer. The IP is still a normal mobile address, and a website can still dislike it. What you drop is the neighbor. Nobody else’s logins, scrapers, or burned sessions are on that SIM with you.
You change the address when you decide to, from the provider’s dashboard, instead of inheriting a rotation schedule. While you wait, leave the page open. A second request before the first one finishes often leaves the line busy, and the address can stay the same for a few minutes even after it succeeds.
A quick check
Open a plain “what is my IP” page, note the address, and use the line normally for an hour without requesting a change. If the address moves on its own, the line is shared or auto-rotating. If it sits still, you are at least on a sticky or dedicated assignment. Ask the provider who else can be on that modem. A clear answer is “nobody.”
